La Pieta

-GIUSEPPE UNAGARETTI (Trans. Jack Hibberd)-
I am an injured man.
I depart and return, Pieta, to where I talk and listen, to myself, alone.
I have only arrogance and goodness.
I feel in exile among humankind.
For whom I am tortured.
If only I could turn to myself again.
I have populated silence with words.
Have I splintered heart and mind with a tyranny of words?
I rule over revenants.
